Verizon Prepaid is now offering a multi-line discount. Called the Prepaid Family Account, the discount applies to the second through fifth line on an account. The amount of discount depends on the price of the plan. The second through fourth lines on the $ 40 plan each get a $ 10 discount, The discount is $ 15 per line of the $ 50 plan and $ 20 per line on the $ 80 plan. Here are the details of each plan:

    • $ 40/month ($ 30 for lines 2-5) – unlimited voice, messaging and data with the first 3 GB at high speeds.
    • $ 50/month ($ 35 for lines 2-5) – unlimited voice, messaging and data with the first 7 GB at high speeds.
    • $ 60/month ($ 40 for lines 2-5) – unlimited voice, messaging and data with the first 10 GB high speeds.
    • $ 80/month ($ 60 for lines 2-5) – unlimited voice, messaging and high speed data.
While any savings is always welcome, Verizon’s multi-line  discounts are smaller than those currently offered by its primary competitors, especially AT&T’s Cricket.  For example:
    • Cricket’s least expensive five line plan costs $ 100 for 4 GB/line
    • Boost Mobile’s least expensive five line plan costs $ 130 for unlimited data/line
    • MetroPCS’ least expensive five line plan costs $ 150 for 2 GB/line
    • Verizon’s least expensive five line plan costs $ 160 for 3 GB/line
Verizon does have the largest network and for some customers it’s the only practical choice. If you’re a Verizon customer managing multiple lines, be sure to take advantage of the new Prepaid Family Account discounts. You will probably have to call Verizon to get the discount, I doubt that Verizon will apply the discounts automatically to existing accounts.
