A new mobile service app has just entered the very competitive market. Called Visible, the company is a Verizon-backed, invite-only service with an MVNO-like strategy.
The company was funded by Verizon Wireless earlier this year and holds its headquarters in Denver with a total of about 50 employees. It looks like Visible is ready to accept nationwide customers as it has started to announce its only plan– a $ 40/month plan that comes with unlimited data, minutes, and messaging services.
If you are interested in subscribing to this service, you simply have to download the Visible app and register using your unlocked device. As soon as you’re done with the registration process, you will be receiving your own sim card. This will give you access to Visible’s service under Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Since Visible offers unlimited service, the company says they do not throttle at the end of the month.
Despite receiving funding from Verizon, Visible maintains that they “operate independently and do things differently in the phone service category.” And contrary to what other companies practice, Visible allows its customers to make payments through internet-based services like Venmo and PayPal.
As of this writing, the app is available only on iOS and subscriptions are done via invitations. If you don’t receive an invite, you will have to look for someone who’s an existing Visible member to send you an invitation.
