Earlier today, LG unveiled its newest flagship smartphone called the LG G7 ThinQ. One of the selling points of this device is that LG has made this device heavily focused on AI features, like an AI CAM that analyzes the subject of a photo and picks out the best shooting mode for it. There’s another AI algorithm feature that automatically adjusts the settings of the camera to help take pictures in low light scenarios.
Another notable feature on the G7 ThinQ is the dedicated button on the side of the phone that launches Google Assistant when it’s pressed. LG says that the phone comes with Super Far Field Voice recognition that lets Google Assistant hear you when you’re up to five meters away.
As for the hardware of the G7 ThinQ, LG has included a 6.1-inch display with a resolution of 3120×1440. LG said that the brightness of the display can reach 1,000 nits, helping you view the screen under direct sunlight. The display comes with a notch, which LG refers to as the “New Second Screen.” The good news is that you now have the ability to customize the notch by expanding it to have minimal bezels or even changing the color of the status bar.
From within, the G7 ThinQ runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 3000mAh battery. There will be two versions of the device– one with a 4GB RAM/64GB storage, the other has a 6GB RAM/128GB storage configuration. Both models, however, will still include a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

The device also comes with a dual rear camera setup complete with two 16-megapixel sensors, one comes with an f/1.6 aperture, the other is a wide-angle camera with f/1.9 aperture. These two cameras can be found above the fingerprint reader. In front of the device is another camera with an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/1.9 aperture.
Other notable features available on the G7 ThinQ include a Boombox Speaker, DTS:X technology for virtual 3D sound, USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, NFC, and Android 8.0 Oreo. The phone also has IP-68 certification for dust and water resistance.
LG did not unveil its official price and release date in the US, but the device is said to be available in South Korea “in the coming days.” Carriers in the US, however, have started to announce a timeline on when they can expect the device to start rolling out to customers. T-Mobile was among the first to say that they will offer the G7 ThinQ with 600MHz support. T-Mo did not unveil details about pricing and release date.
Following T-Mobile’s lead, other carriers in the US have joined in on the G7 ThinQ frenzy. Verizon Wireless said that they will start accepting pre-orders for the device starting on May 24th, though a ship date was not revealed. Sprint will also start taking pre-orders on May 25th and expects a June 1st ship date. U.S. Cellular, on the other hand, will start accepting pre-orders for the device on June 1st.
AT&T has not yet made a comment on its launch plans for the G7 ThinQ.
