Earlier today, Apple unveiled three of its latest smartphones, namely the iPhone XR, iPhone Xs, and Xs Max.
These three devices follow the appearance of their older brother, the iPhone X; which came with edge-to-edge screens and a notch on the center. They also include Face ID and gesture navigation technology.
But apart from the similarities with the iPhone X, there is more to the new models beyond appearances.
Here are the three new iPhone models in more detail:
To start off, Apple unveiled the iPhone XR alongside the Xs and Xs Max as a lower-cost alternative. The iPhone XR comes with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display with a 1792×828 resolution. On the back, there is one 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with OIS, Smart HDR, f/1.8 aperture, and low-light performance. Memory options range from 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
There are six colors available for the iPhone XR: Black, Blue, White, Coral, Yellow, and Red. It will be available with these prices:
- 64GB – $ 749
- 128GB – $ 799
- 256GB – $ 899
The iPhone XR is available for pre-orders starting October 19th. It will start shipping on October 26th.
iPhone Xs and Xs Max
Moving over to the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, Apple has designed these devices as the more premium models for this year’s release. The main difference between the two, however, is their screen real estate. The iPhone Xs comes with a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED screen with a 2436×1125 resolution. The iPhone Xs Max, on the other hand, has a 6.5-inch Super Retina OLED screen with a 2688×1242 resolution.
These two models carry the same camera configuration: two 12-megapixel sensors on the back with 4K video recording, and a 7-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. They both also carry the same color options, namely Gold, Space Gray, and Silver.
Pricing and memory capacity details:
- 64GB – $ 999
- 256GB – $ 1,149
- 512GB – $ 1,349
iPhone Xs Max
- 64GB – $ 1,099
- 256GB – $ 1,249
- 512GB – $ 1,449
Both devices are now available for pre-orders before they launch on September 21st.
Across the board, the three new iPhone models run a Hexa-Core Apple A12 Bionic processor with iOS 12. They also include Face ID, and a rugged frame.
For the first time ever, Apple has made these three iPhone models include a Dual SIM standby option with one nano SIM and its eSIM technology that was previously available in iPad models. This functionality eradicates the need for a secondary physical SIM card inserted on these iPhone models. Unfortunately, this functionality is still set to be released later this year via a software update on iOS 12.
These three devices will be carried by T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular.
