Yesterday, T-Mobile’s MetroPCS unveiled a new Four Lines of Unlimited Data for $ 100 promotion. Today Sprint’s Boost Mobile countered with a Five Lines of Unlimited Data for $ 100 offer.
With Boost’s deal, each line gets unlimited talk, messaging and “unlimited” high speed data. As with most cheap “unlimited data” plans there are limits; video streaming is throttled to 480p quality, audio to 500 kbps amd gaming to 2 mbps. After 23 GB, data is subject to deprioritization. Boost’s press release doesn’t say whether hotspot is allowed of not. Taxes are included in the $ 100 price.
To be eligible for the promotion, one line must be a port-in from a non-Sprint related carrier and all other lines must be port-ins or new lines. The offer is available for new activations until Nov 30, 2017. Boost’s release doesn’t say if the deal is available online, but most Boost family plan promotions are in store-only. Boost’s announcement doesn’t say anything about pricing for four or fewer lines, either. I’ve asked Boost’s media relation team about that as well as about hotspot and online availability and will update this post if and when I hear back.
Boost is also offering free phones for port-ins until November 2. The free phones are available at Boost dealers only, not online. Available phones include the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge, LG Tribute HD and Motorola Moto e. The free phones and 5 lines offers can be combined.
