For everyone who’s been waiting for true 5G connection, AT&T has some important news to share to its subscribers.
According to today’s announcement, AT&T has plans to launch its 5G network capabilities in 12 cities before the year ends. When it does, the prepaid brand believes it will be the first in the U.S. to offer blazing speeds to smartphones. Right now, it’s a race between AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless.
As of this writing, AT&T has not yet announced which cities will get 5G network availability. At the same time, there’s no word yet on which devices will be compatible with the network speed. But once 5G network will become available, it will level up the world of smartphones as we know it. In addition to smartphones, this network will produce a strong impact on other forms of technology, such as on virtual reality, Internet-connected gadgets, medical gear, and even with self-driving cars.
It’s exciting to see what 2018 brings for the smartphone industry with all the different plans for 5G network expansion. Apart from 5G, AT&T has also confirmed that they will be launching its 5G Evolution network to different markets throughout the year. What makes this network different from 5G is that the latter makes use of 4G/LTE networks so that speed and stability can be improved.
This is truly a big move for the wireless and connected industry. And we can’t wait to see how this will change everyone’s lives this year.
